Lainie Cook
Lainie entered her first yoga class in 2000 seeking a way to cope with the stress of a senior corporate position and an unbalanced lifestyle. From the very first class she experienced a profound shift in her physical, emotional and mental well-being. Soon she was drawn to enquire further into how yoga transforms us at the deepest level.
She is a devoted student of Ashtanga Yoga as taught by R Sharath Jois and has received his blessing to teach (Authorisation Level 2). Along with maintaining a daily practice, she regularly returns to Mysore, India, to continue studies in yoga asana (postures), Sanskrit, chanting and yoga philosophy.
Lainie has also completed over 1000 hours of training with Angelika Knoerzer, Applied Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga with Simon Borg Olivier and Leslie Kaminoff and courses in Yoga Philosophy with the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies.
As a mum of 2 young children, Lainie understands the unique challenges of balancing parenthood, work and practice. She hopes that through teaching she can assist others to discover their own capacity for inner transformation so they too can experience yoga’s greatest gift: to make us better partners, parents and human beings.
