Lainie entered her first yoga class in 2000 seeking a way to cope with the stress of a senior corporate position and an unbalanced lifestyle. From the very first class she experienced a profound shift in her physical, emotional and mental well-being. Soon she was drawn to enquire further into how yoga transforms us at the deepest level.
She is a devoted student of Ashtanga Yoga as taught by R Sharath Jois. Along with maintaining a daily practice, she regularly returns to Mysore, India, to continue studies in yoga asana (postures), sanskrit, chanting and yoga philosophy.
Lainie has completed 1000 hours+ of teacher training with Angelika Knoerzer, Applied Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga with Simon Borg Olivier and Leslie Kaminoff, Yoga Philosophy with the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, is a Registered Level 2 teacher with Yoga Australia and regularly studies with internationally Certified Ashtanga teachers.
As a mum of 2 young children, Lainie understands the unique challenges of balancing parenthood, work and practice. She hopes that through teaching she can help others to discover their own capacity for inner transformation and growth and pass on yoga’s greatest gift: to make us better partners, parents and human beings.
Mani was born in India and lived there until age 4. Her mother had a daily yoga practice and introduced her to yoga as a child. It has always been in her life, sometimes in the background and for the last 8 years as her daily practice through the Ashtanga method. Mani loves the self discovery that arises through the practice, and knows it is something she can’t live without. Mani completed a 240 hour Yoga Alliance training in 2011 and has made a number of trips to Mysore to study at KPJAYI with R. Sharath Jois.
